Ely South by-election, 2017

Liberal Democrats gain from Conservative

A by-election was held for the Ely South ward of East Cambridgeshire District Council on 7 September 2017 following the resignation of Conservative Cllr Tom Hunt in order to take up a politically restricted post with the new Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Christine Whelan gained the seat for the Liberal Democrats.
