Hadleigh by-election, 2016

Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative

A by-election was held for the Hadleigh division of Suffolk County Council on 22 September 2016 following the resignation of Independent Cllr Brian Riley, elected as a Conservative, shortly before he was about to be disqualified for non-attendance (link). Riley was expelled from the Conservative group after refusing to resign his seat despite moving to the USA in March 2015 (link).

Trevor Sheldrick gained the seat for the Liberal Democrats.
