Independent gain from Liberal Democrats

A by-election was held for the Whissendine ward of Rutland County (Unitary) Council on 20 July 2017 following the resignation of Liberal Democrats Cllr Kevin Thomas, elected in a previous by-election for Whissendine held on 3 March 2016, covered here.

Ian John Arnold gained the seat as an Independent.
