Labour hold

A by-election was held for the Blakelaw ward of Newcastle upon Tyne City (Metropolitan Borough) Council on 24 November 2016 following the resignation of Labour Cllr Ben Riley, who is emigrating to the Middle East to take up a new teaching job.

Oskar Avery held the seat for Labour.
