Labour gain from Derwentside Independents

A by-election was held for the Burnopfield and Dipton ward of Durham Council on 23 October 2014 following the resignation of Derwentside Independents Cllr Bob Alderson, due to poor health.

Joanne Carr gained the seat for Labour.
