Independent gain from Labour

A by-election was held for the Botcherby ward of Carlisle City Council on 7 January 2016 following the death of Labour Cllr Terry Scarborough, last re-elected in 2015.

John Paton gained the seat as an Independent and will be up for re-election in 2019.
