Conservative hold

A by-election was held for the Alderholt ward of East Dorset District Council on 3 March 2016 following the resignation of Conservative Cllr Ian Monks, who had been the council leader, after opposition to proposals he backed to create a new unitary authority for South East Dorset.

Gina Logan held the seat for the Conservatives.
